Lee Valley Ride
*** NOW CONFIRMED ***
A ride up the Lee Valley using the towpath and National Cycle Routes 1 and 61. We will aim to get to Ware (26 miles) or Hertford (29 miles) and then take the train back (fare between £4 and £8 depending on groupsave purchase). It is also possible to drop out and catch a train or cycle back at various points.
We'll stop at Springfield Marina cafe for morning coffee and to pick up anyone joining in Hackney, and then again in Waltham Abbey where we'll find suitable cafes/shops or you can bring your own food to eat. Unfortunately the Olympic White Water Centre won't be open on this date so no chance this time to see some thrilling slalom action - hopefully we will be able to see that on a ride later in the year.
Route is largely traffic free and flat, just one real hill later on, so suitable for all ages and abilities and for most bikes. Warning - there will be some mud and some bad surfaces - probably best not to use a skinny tyred road bike if you have a choice.
Meeting times and points
Top of Green Bridge: 10am
Victoria Park Pavilion Cafe (outside): 10:10am
Springfield Marina: 10.30am

Rides information
Our rides are highlighted by "RIDE". You don't have to be a member to join in and we're also always looking for new ride ideas. Contact our Rides Co-ordinator for further information.
There is no need to register beforehand for a ride unless this is specifically stated, most rides are "turn up and go".
If you haven't ridden with us before please read our Ride Guidance Notes.
Please note that for train assisted rides we often cannot publish times until about 2 weeks beforehand because of the need to check engineering works. Also sometimes our ride leaders do have to change dates/times/routes at reasonably short notice. Generally this website will be up to date and also details will be sent out to our email groups, but if in doubt contact the ride leader or our rides co-ordinator to check arrangements.
