The Big Ride - Love London, Go Dutch
The Big Ride, promoting the LCC's Love London, Go Dutch campaign for safe streets for cycling, will meet in Hyde Park at 11.00am and aims to be a fabulous springtime day out in central London, suitable for all the family. The ride will end on Victoria Embankment around 2pm.
We are providing a feeder ride from Tower Hamlets to the ride start and then an escort back to the borough, to allow everyone to join in even if you aren't confident enough to cycle into central London on your own.
Meet at 09.45 on Mile End Road opposite Stepney Green tube station/Co-op shop, ready for a 10.00 departure (note - not our usual Green Bridge meeting point). Alternatively you can join the ride further west if that suits you better - meet at the junction of Dock Street and Cable Street/Royal Mint Street near the raliway bridge, be there by 10.15 but be prepared to wait a few minutes.
Download this flyer for a map of the meeting point for the return ride. We should be back at Mile End about 15.00. The District Line is running normally on the day so if you prefer you can take your bike back to the East End by train after the ride. Also of course anyone from further out East is welcome to use the tube to come in to Stepney Green and join us there.
Full distance (feeder ride there, Big Ride and ride back to Mile End) about 17 miles.
And if you haven't already, please sign the Love London, Go Dutch petition!
Upcoming rides & events
Our rides are highlighted by "RIDE". You don't have to be a member to join in and we're also always looking for new ride ideas. Contact our Rides Co-ordinator for further information.
There is no need to register beforehand for a ride unless this is specifically stated, most rides are "turn up and go".
Please note that for train assisted rides we often cannot publish times until about 2 weeks beforehand because of the need to check engineering works. Also sometimes our ride leaders do have to change dates/times/routes at reasonably short notice. Generally this website will be up to date and also details will be sent out to our email groups, but if in doubt contact the ride leader or our rides co-ordinator to check arrangements.
