Surrey 6 Peaks
A repeat of last years successful Surrey 6 Peaks ride, a 50mile ride around the Surrey Hills AONB. The perfect ride to burn off some calories in preparation for the festive season. We'll be attempting 6 famous climbs of the area:
- Headley Common (201m/659ft)
- Box Hill (195m/640ft)
- Ranmore Common (190m/623ft)
- Green Dene (208m/682ft)
- Pitch Hill (244m/800ft)
- Leith Hill (248m/813ft)
Lunch in the picturesque village of Shere; cafe, pub and packed lunch options. Tea stops atop Box and Leith Hills. There may also be the chance to visit Leith tower, the top of which is the highest point in south east England at 294m/965ft.
Don't expect much flat road, but the pace will not be high and we will wait at the top of every climb for all the riders. Remember after every great climb, theres a great descent! Mostly quiet rural lanes, suitable for all types of bike. Bring lights and warm and waterproof clothing.
Train from Waterloo to Epsom (return from Dorking), meet at 8am for 8:15 train (early start due to available daylight). Cost £10.80 regular fare, £5.40 with a groupsave.
Upcoming rides & events
Our rides are highlighted by "RIDE". You don't have to be a member to join in and we're also always looking for new ride ideas. Contact our Rides Co-ordinator for further information.
There is no need to register beforehand for a ride unless this is specifically stated, most rides are "turn up and go".
Please note that for train assisted rides we often cannot publish times until about 2 weeks beforehand because of the need to check engineering works. Also sometimes our ride leaders do have to change dates/times/routes at reasonably short notice. Generally this website will be up to date and also details will be sent out to our email groups, but if in doubt contact the ride leader or our rides co-ordinator to check arrangements.
