These monthly meetings are held jointly between Tower Hamlets Wheelers, Tower Hamlets Living Streets and Better Streets for Tower Hamlets.

Cycle Buddies
- No new cycle pairings this month but we have signed up 3 new experienced riders
- Nextdoor could be good place to promote the scheme.
- ACTION Iain write a blurb for people to share on Nextdoor
- We have received around 200 borough specific flyers from central office for use at events/workshop. These could also be distributed to local cycle shops, GPs and pharmacies.

Local Election Manifestos
- A working group has been set up to start work on what our asks will be ahead of the local elections in May next 2022.
Liveable Streets Update
- We understand that all schemes that have been consulted on already are likely to be completed or work started on before the next local elections.
- It is worth collecting before and after photos/videos within scheme areas which we can use as part of our campaign work.
Bethnal Green
- Ropley Street, a consultation on the closure of the street will be taking place soon.

Shadwell
- The scheme is currently out for consultation which closes on 5th September
- A small working group held a meeting to go through the plans for the scheme and discuss how to respond and campaign

LCC Campaigners’ Conference
- Will be held online again this year and will be on 3 separate evenings over the course of 2 weeks.
- Climate Safe Streets will be the focus of one of the workshops
- Diversity and inclusion will be another workshop
- The workshops will be held between Mon 20th Sep – Fri 24th Sep and/or Mon 27 Sep – Fri 1st Oct
Rides, Events & Workshop
- A separate committee meeting is to be arranged to discuss risk assessments and safeguarding around the start of September and after the end of the school summer holidays.
- Last ride will be on Sunday 15th August to Thamesmead

Ropley Street
- We understand that the council will be consulting on a potential road closure at Ropley Street following residents asking for one.
- A group of local residents organised a walkabout meeting with Mayor John Biggs where they made their case for why the closure was needed.
Poplar Healthy Streets

Chrisp Street Community Cycles
- Poplar HARCA has partnered up with active travel organisation Sustrans and environmental organisation HUBBUB to bring residents the Chrisp Street Family Cycle Centre. They will offer free cycle hire, routes, trips, led rides, maintenance, classes and more. This is a pilot project and will last 8 weeks starting the last week of July.
