Tower Hamlets Wheelers Meeting Minutes – September 2020

Bethnal Green Liveable Streets
- The scheme is underway & progressing at speed.
- There is still an issue at Columbia Primary School as they seem reluctant to encourage active travel due to lack of space to store pupil’s bikes/scooters
- It seems that Columbia Road Market is being used as a reason to not have any storage on the road.
Brick Lane
- Parts of Brick Lane are now pedestrianised. This has cut out North/South traffic cutting through.
- There is however still East/West motor traffic cutting through
Workshop
- The staff at the Town Hall are checking if the 6 person rule applies to the workshop
- ACTION: Keith to contact Rob Morton about Car Free Day (22nd Sep)
Old Ford Road Liveable Streets
- Project Centre Meeting Workshop took place, attended by Dan, Alex and Ross.
- The issue of zero proposed bike hangers within the scheme area was raised.
- ACTION: Need to lobby councillors on the importance and need of secure cycle hangers.
- The Cranbrook Estate is housing association land so the council needs to work with them to install any new cycle hangers.
Cycle Buddies
- Toby gave a short presentation of the Cycle Buddies scheme.
- ACTION: Iain to create Google form, templates & submit risk assessment
Limehouse Bicycle Company
- James from Limehouse Bicycle Company gave a short presentation explaining what the new bike shop is aiming to do within the borough.
- ACTION: Owen/Keith to update Wheelers website adding Lime Bicycle Company onto the list of bike shops within the borough.
- ACTION: Social media post to be done promoting that a new bike shop is now in the borough
AOB
Thames Path
- JP has sent an email with regards to the issue of the right of way
Canary Wharf Coalition
- Work with Neil Webster, JP will share a list of businesses and forward email
South Dock Bridge
- Could we reach out to Will Norman on this issue?
