1. TfL Construction Works Impacts
Prior to main meeting; Alex, Julie and Kate met with Michael Barrow who deals with construction impacts from TfL after getting in touch with the group. Suggested setting up a ‘development patrol’ ride within the borough as a means of identifying issues from a cycling point of view (similar to ones carried out successfully by Southwark Cyclists).
Action – Heike to arrange a time and date to carry out a cycling tour of construction sites within the borough.
2. Workshop – Saturday 18th November
Keith confident all in hand and has enough volunteers.
3. Poplar HARCA Meeting
Julie met with Wei, a community engagement officer from Poplar HARCA. Discussion was mainly focussed on removal of through traffic within the Poplar HARCA area. Poplar HARCA are also in the process of creating their own ‘election asks’ ahead of the 2018 local elections with a significant portion dedicated to traffic reduction/removal measures. They have also recently put out a petition calling for a pedestrian crossing on St. Thomas’ Road.
Actions - Wei to attend December meeting and present to wider group.
Everyone to sign Popular HARCA petition
4. Cycle Storage
Heike contacted Lucy from Cyclehoop who confirmed that within Tower Hamlets there had been 200 individual requests from residents for bike storage within the borough, with only 4 installed bike hangers within Tower Hamlets (all of which are full!). Lucy offered to attend a monthly meeting in order to show where in the borough the requests had been made from.
Actions – Heike to liase further with Lucy and agree a date to attend a monthly meeting, also to enquire with Cycle Parking (responsible for the wedge shaped bike storage units) in order to obtain their figures as well.
Everyone to start using the ‘Find it, Love it, Fix it (FiLiFi) app and request some bike storage within the borough.
5. Cycling Manifesto
Draft of the Wheelers cycling manifesto was produced by Alex, Heike and Julie. Feedback was provided by the whole group.
Action – Alex to produce final draft.
6. Rotherhithe to Canary Wharf Cycling and Pedestrian Bridge
Consultation now open by TfL
Action – Everyone to put their thoughts regarding the bridge onto the Cyclescape thread.
7. Meeting with the Mayor
Alex and David T have put themselves forward to attend a meeting with the mayor to discuss future schemes within the borough
Action – Alex/David to feedback to the group at next meeting.
8. Christmas Meal 25th November
Registration form now live via Facebook, register interest in attending, plus what dish you are bringing.
Action – everyone to register via online and to bring a mystery raffle prize.
