Tower Hamlets Wheelers meeting
Wednesday, 9 September 7.30pm

1. Treasurer election

After the publicising that the treasurer's post would be selected at this meeting, unfortunately in the end we had no nominations.  Dave A will therefore remain in post until our next AGM.

ACTION: Search for a new treasurer in good time before the next AGM.

2. LCC AGM

LCC's AGM is on 17 October.  Gerry is submitting a motion concerning child protection policy.

Terry noted that the motion that included the amendment to the LCC policy making clause would allow the board to make binding policy.  We weren't in agreement with this in our consultation response, preferring binding polocy to only be made at the AGM.  Discussion about whether to table an amendment to that clause at the AGM.

ACTION: All to read the AGM motions and submit any further comments.

Terry also let us know that she is standing for an LCC trustee post at the AGM.

3. Committee online communication tool

ACTION: Ask Alex to set up a THW account or let us know if there's a demo available and we'll give it a go.

4. Borough-wide 20mph

Terry has arranged a Met liaison meeting with PC Wedlock for 11 September.

Enforcement action advice from Jeremy Leach of 20's Plenty for Us:
- Attend Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings and raise the issue
- Lobby council officers
- Ask TfL what data they are collecting

5. Consultations

Dates for meetings with TfL re Bow Roundabout and Bancroft Rd/CS2 design being arranged.

A CS2/Cambridge Heath Rd junction review is on LCC's website.  Two-stage right being used incorrectly, if at all.

ACTION: Arrange a visit to this junction to try it out, observe and ask users of the junction their experiences.  Need a volunteer to organise or for individuals to report back.

ACTION: Gerry sending over update report to the THW-engineering egroup.

6. Workshop

Next one on 19 September, Keith and Owen around.  Also to note that the hall will open for Open House.

ACTION: Keith and Owen to arrange the October venue as the hall isn't available.

7. Rides/events

Suggestion of organising a weekend ride to view the new Waltham Forest mini-Holland scheme and Leytonstone bike hub.  Need a volunteer.

Ride leaders - we will start to make a list of our approved leaders noting any training and/or experience.  They would be able to automatically organise and publicise rides as THW/LCC approved.  Caroline and Owen currently remain the only ones able to add rides/events to the LCC website - a requirement for insurance purposes.

Until the ride leader list is complete, if anyone wants to organise a ride they should notify the committee.  No objections will be taken as approval.

8. Monthly meeting with LBTH

Latest one took place on 19 August with Gerry and Owen attending along with LBTH transport staff and a consultant from Project Centre who presented an overview of the new Tower Hamlets Cycling Strategy that they are helping to produce.  A draft document of the strategy will be available for us to review at the end of September.  The aim is to get the strategy ratified by the council by the end of the year.
