Monthly Meeting Minutes

1. Matters arising

All outstanding matters will be covered in upcoming agenda items.



2. Workshop

This month's is on 20 October will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church Hall.

ACTION: Keith will do direction signs for the church hall.
ACTION: Rob to so a town hall door sign directing to the church hall.
ACTION: Owen to call in at the town hall to pick up required workshop kit.



3. Newsletter

Newsletter meeting held last week with Rob, Keith, Alex, Owen.  Meeting summary forwarded to the committee pre-meeting.

Discussion about the deadline for producing the printed version, the meeting had suggested deadline should be set by London Cyclist deadline.

Main consensus is that the printed version would be best to be ready for the workshop.  Eases distribution of copies, main focal point of Wheelers month.

ACTION: Review the production of the first issue at December meeting.



4. London Cyclist Borough News

Agreed to request that LC lists borough contact details within borough news even if no actual news item is managed to be submitted.  At present "other" borough groups' details are listed at the end.

ACTION: Owen to contact LC.



5. Council liaison

David T gave an update on planning a meeting with LBTH transport officers. Trevor from Hackey Cyclists has agreed to come along.

ACTION: David T to continue planning.



6. Goldsmith's Row/Ion Square development

Gerry and Oliver (Hackney Cyclists) had a site visit at Ion Square.  Will need to contact councillors in Weavers and Bethnal Green North.

ACTION: Carried forward - Gerry and David T to draw up an initial project document.



7. Bow Roundabout

No further development about any event to mark the one year anniversary of the deaths at the roundabout.  All agreed any campaign action will take place away from the anniversary.

TfL had a site visit on 18 September with London Assembly members including a London Cycling Campaign rep.  Highlighting the plans to put in a similar "early start" system installed on eastbound entry on the westbound entry to the roundabout.  

LCC is firmly against this proposal.

TfL had an article published in East London Advertiser highlighting their "early start" system.

Gerry notes that it is imperative that we have working relationship with Newham LCC borough group over this issue.

ACTION: Gerry to send a letter to East London Advertiser in response to TfL's ELA article.



8. Junction Review

TfL's junction review programme is starting again now.  Tower Hamlets has 8 junctions up for implementation by end of 2013.

The November review will include Mile End and Stepney Green junctions.

Our engineering email list must be mobilised immediately!

ACTION: Gerry and David T to initiate.



9. Rides

The rides programme is ongoing.

Keith suggests that mobile numbers of ride particpants are taken at the start of the ride.  Agreed to discuss later.



10. Finance

LCC have contacted all borough groups about significant borough group funds that remain unspent.  Auditors have explained this is not good practice for a charity.  LCC is asking each group if their borough grant for next year is needed.

Proposal to accept the borough grant, prepare a year budget and return all or part of it depending on the forecast.

ACTION: Dave to liaise with LCC.
ACTION: Treasurer asks once again for all to submit their expenses claims.



11. AOB

- Keith continues to rebuild Svetlana's ghost bike.  Aiming to have it ready for the anniversary.

- Gerry informs that planning application responses would normally be accepted up until the planning committee meeting date.


Meeting ended at 9.10pm
