1. Workshop

Next one on 21 January.  


2. New Year Social

Booked at Vesuvio cafe for Friday, 27 January.

3. LBTH update

Sam Margolis, Active Travel Officer for LBTH and NHS asked if anyone had any questions.

David T asked about the railings that are being taken out by TfL along Whitechapel Road & Mile End Road with regard to loss of cycle parking.  Sam says that LBTH have raised this with TfL and have identified locations to put in cycle parking (including locations suggested by Cycling Rangers project).

Richard asked about regulations for barriers on cycle paths as they often restrict trailers, cargo bikes etc.  Sam says they are usually put in to prevent motorbikes using the routes.  Basically an anti-social problem.

Cycle Hire: Gerry asks if there is additional funding for cycle training coming with the scheme.  Sam says yes there is.
Cycle Hire Workshop will be held shortly to present the scheme formally and ask local groups if they would like to help out.

Olympics: Gerry asks for any news.  LBTH have been working on transport issues awareness and cycle parking in Victoria Park.  Olympic walking & cycling route maps are now published.


4. Bow Roundabout

LCC, including Gerry and Steve, have met with TfL who put forward their plans for Bow roundabout.  Designs being released for consultation on Thursday, 12th with follow up meeting next week.


5. Newsletter

Next copy deadline is Friday 13th January.

ACTION: Bob collating, Rob producing.


6. Engineering Sub-committee

Not quite setup yet.

ACTION: Gerry to pass on potential members to Owen to get egroup going for starters.


7. LCC "Go Dutch" Campaign

LCC member volunteers have signed up to be "champions" including Katie, Richard and Terry so far from Tower Hamlets.  They will be leading on the campaign.	

Katie gives brief overview of campaign which will be formally launched by LCC at end of January - further details on their Go Dutch page.

Richard outlines that the campaign was approved at LCC AGM.  Mass ride to take place on 28th April, petition to be started aiming for 100,000 signatures.  All activities targeting the mayoral elections.  Mayoral candidates to be asked to support campaign.

Gerry suggests involving other local cycling and community groups, BUGS etc. in the campaign and especially the mass ride.

ACTION: Champions to keep on championing.


8. Calendar planning

AGM to be held at April's meeting - ideas for a speaker asked for, to be discussed at February's meeting.


9. Movers & Shakers Project

A Brompton has been bought to loan out to members of the project.

ACTION: Rob & Alix to work on recruiting members.


10. Rides

Rob taking on the task of organising a spring weekend away.

Group YHA membership will be renewed.

Caroline will ask Hackney and Newham if they would like to co-ordinate their ride dates with ours.

ACTION: Caroline & Alex to organise rides.


11. Twittering

Agreed to get on with using a Twitter account in addition to egroup, website and Facebook for publicising what we're getting up to.

ACTION: Owen & Rob to get it set up.
