Monthly Meeting Minutes

Wednesday, 12 October 2011 7.30pm
Held at St Margaret's House, 21 Old Ford Road.

1. Workshop

This Saturday, 15th - Richard picking up the tools etc.



2. Rides

Alex reported that the first mid-week ride went well with about 12 turning up.

Fright ride also went well with about 16 turning up.
Noted that excellent prep by Richard

Alex now away for a month or so - more ride leaders needed!

Bob will organise one to Erith for 22nd or 29th.  Rumours David T might be organising one as well.

Also noted that the Hilton ferry is now free travelling north to south.



3. Jim Fitzpatrick

Gerry has an invite to a do at House of Commons on 18 October for launch of Keep Thames Path Open bus.




4. Conservative councillors meeting

Meeting with Isle of Dogs councillors arranged by Richard for 2 November.

ACTION: Richard to attend with anyone else who can make it.



5. Jenny Jones visit

Visit on 19 October to meet us and discuss cycling issues in the borough.

ACTION: Owen to confirm time and meeting.




6. Stratford International access

Access issues to/from Stratford International via Westfield resolved - follow signs to/from Car Park A.

Plenty of cycle parking available but cycle signage appalling.



7. Olympics

Olympic lane proposals - send response.

ACTION: Owen to bring to workshop



8. Blackfriars Bridge

Flash ride demo attended by Terry.  Very well attended, possibly a 1000 and well managed.

Campaign is widening to represent overall dissatisfication with TfL's lack of consultation and accomodation of pedestrians and cyclists in their plans.




9. Newsletter

Alex suggesting producing a plain email version to send out to email groups.

Copy deadline to be set first Wednesday of the month.

Owen says he will get a News section on the website setup so that items can be regularly posted which will help to gather newsletter articles from.

Bob up for helping out with collating and editing.

10. LCC AGM

Gerry reminded all about LCC's AGM on 16 November.

Don't forget to register beforehand.



11. AOB

Keith - suggested the Bay of the Somme in northern France as a possible weekend away?!



Meeting ended at 9.05pm
