December 2015 Meeting
Wheelers meeting 09/12/15
Present – Owen, David T, Rob, Helen, Keith, Christy, Terry, Richard, Julie, Caroline
Apologies – Gerry, Dave A
1. Social media
Noted that trying to promote anything via Facebook has become a real chore. Owen will do some background reading.
Following a recent breach of confidential information via an LCC Infrastructure Review Group, David T suggested that it be minuted that THW fully supports and respects the need for confidentiality with regard to viewing and discussing plans/schemes at the pre-consultation stage. All agreed.
3. Harassment/bullying policy
Terry reported that LCC has drawn up a policy which is now awaiting approval by trustees. It will then be available for borough group use.
4. Cycle Superhighway 3
Terry has used Twitter to raise Horseferry Rd roadworks issue, Gerry has written to council.
Button pressing for Cannon Street Road junction lights still an issue.
Terry requested action re plot of land adjacent to Rotherhithe tunnel approach (“Branch Road green space”). Potentially to be used for building development but Limehouse Community Forum objecting, DT/TP to write on behalf of Wheelers to support retention of the space for the community.
5. Cycle Superhighway 2
Market parking issues discussed. Suggestion that we request a cycle parking “car” be installed on Whitechapel Road in market area as short of cycle parking in that area (only on south side of road currently).
Gerry has initiated correspondence regarding enforcement of parking regulations.
DT to check Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) to check whether any “promises” or priorities related to this.
KJ to check the parking notices (thought to be 20 mins but not 100% sure).
6. Workshop 19/12/15
Everything in hand, more sign in sheets needed (Owen). Need to collect names and contact details from sheets. Important to have meeter/greeter role to ensure this is done well. Suggested ticket system for bikes – only get ticket once signed in, helps also to attend to people in correct order. Rob to devise something.
7. CLOS course
Christy attended recent course organised by Urban Design London. We now have 3 or 4 people with some training in this.
8. Supporting other borough consultations
CF requested we help other boroughs by responding to consultations etc – at this time in Enfield mini-Holland and Camden Torrington Place.
